SEPTEMBER GULF COUNCIL MEETING CANCELLED DUE TO HURRICANE IVAN

Tampa, Florida - September 11, 2004 - The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Council) has cancelled its September 13-17, 2004 meeting at Panama City Beach, Florida in its entirety due to Hurricane Ivan. Previously, the Council had cancelled the Monday and Tuesday committee sessions. The meeting will be rescheduled at a future time and date to be announced.

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council is one of eight regional fishery management councils that were established by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act of 1976. The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council prepares fishery management plans that are designed to manage fishery resources in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
